Spinal Health 3 Keys

The 3 Keys to Spinal Health:  Proper Alignment, Flexibility, and Strength.

To help you maintain optimal spinal health there are 3 components you need to focus on:

Chain_missing-link_83969848
1. Proper alignment.
2. Proper flexibility of joints and muscles
3. Great strength.

Proper alignment:
Proper alignment is the state in which the natural curves of your spine are all in alignment. How you sit, lift, sleep, or carry yourself are all important for helping your spine stay properly aligned. When the spine or vertebra are not in proper alignment the back muscles, ligaments, discs and spinal joints are all under increased and uneven stress. This can lead to abnormal wear patterns ultimately lead to acute or chronic pain patterns.

Proper flexibility:
Appropriate movement is essential for maintaining healthy joints, tissues and organs. Movement helps to lubricate and nourish your joints. When joints become tight and restricted it is difficult for nutrients to reach the cartilage since cartilage has very poor blood supply. This process ultimately leads to abnormal wear patterns and degeneration of the joint. This can also lead to premature osteoarthritis. Lack of motion also restricts the transfer of oxygen rich blood to the discs that form a cushion between the bones in your spine; this can lead to accelerated disc degeneration.

“Motion is a sign of life itself. . ..”

Great strength:
As you work towards improving your spinal health with better alignment and flexibility, don’t forget your muscular system. One of the most common causes of ongoing back pain is weak supporting musculature. Achieving and maintaining muscular strength is not only essential for our ability to function, it is also vital for stabilizing and protecting our joints.

“If your back is weak…You may have a problem.”

At Back2Strength our Doctors are focused on re-building muscular strength in your spine. This can be a critical component to your recovery and long term results. Many patients are not aware that Back2Strength is on the cutting edge of spinal rehabilitation. MedX technology offers us the ability to evaluate your strength levels and compare your results with established norms. In fact, there are over 70 published research articles discussing the incredible results of our program which is used in leading spine treatment centers around the world. However, strengthening your back requires your active participation and a willingness to challenge yourself over time to give your body the best chance of full recovery.

A quick note/reminder about exercising outside after surrounding forest fire smoke fills the air.....is it safe and without potential consequence??
The higher the level of warning or level of particles in the air, the higher the chance of irritation you may experience (sinus, throat, cough, eye, respiratory irritation). These will be exacerbated if you have any risk factors or pre-existing conditions like heart or lung disease, asthma or allergies.
If you do run when you smell smoke you risk respiratory irritation. When you run, you breathe faster and more deeply taking in fine particles deeper into your lungs. During exercise, people can increase their air intake as much as 10 to 20 times over their resting level. Increased breathing rates bring more pollution deep into the lungs.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

*Be smart out there running if the smoke covers town again.......a safe alternative would be to strength train or run in doors!

90 percent of all of the stimulation of your brain comes from the movement of the spine. If you're constantly sitting still and not exercising the body or treating the spine, your brain will lose out on the necessary stimulation it needs to live a long life. Get out there and make your brain come alive! #back2strength #chiropractic #strengthismedicine #investinyourhealth ... See MoreSee Less
